Help us put diverse, high-quality books in the hands and homes of our most under-resourced children.

We are putting diverse high-quality books in the hands and homes of children in Sacramento, with a priority on children attending school in the Promise Zone. The Promise Zone Literacy Initiative was established in the spring of 2021 to support Sacramento’s most underprivileged neighborhoods. Of the 20 elementary schools in the Promise Zone, only 27% of 3rd grade students are at grade-level reading compared to their Sacramento County peers at 37%.

Fundraising efforts for the Promise Zone Literacy Initiative include Authors on the Move, private and government grants, and individual donations. Your support will help us reach more schools right now. Together, let’s get all kids reading.
