Children’s Literacy Endowment
In 2014, the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Literacy Foundation voted to establish an endowment for Children’s Literacy. The Foundation will continue to increase the principal of this endowment in support of Children’s Literacy activities. As of December 31, 2020, the endowment is valued at $1,016,561, not including current pledges, and has made no distributions. This endowment will make an annual distribution to children’s literacy initiatives in the Sacramento Region.
The Children’s Literacy Endowment was initially anticipated to provide direct support for the Library’s Summer Reading Program. In the next months, we will explore ways to support summer reading programs delivered by others as well as support organizations who need support to enroll their students into summer reading programs for children aged 0-17.
In 2017, the Board of Directors voted to establish an endowment for Foundation operations with achieved savings. Fundraising experts recommend that nonprofit organizations have 25% of their operations covered by endowment interest distributions. Securing the future of your legacy gift requires securing the future of this Foundation. The Foundation receives unrestricted bequests from time to time and have directed portions of those gifts to this endowment. As of June 30, 2020, the endowment is valued at $66,706 and no distributions have been made.
This endowment will make an annual contribution toward the Foundation’s Operations.
The ( your Name ) ( your direction ) Endowment
A minimum threshold of $25,000 is what it takes to initiate your donor-directed endowment for the benefit of a literacy nonprofit organization or a long-term literacy-focused initiative. Your named endowment will make an annual contribution according to your direction.
Thank you in advance for considering the Foundation as a steward of your legacy gifts. For further information, contact april@sacramentoliteracy.org or call 916-836-3540.
